The creation of this journal is a result of discussions, at the invitation of Evangelos Livieratos, of the four Founding editors who have worked together in several occasions during the last years trying to couple issues on history of cartography and maps with a variety of possibilities offered by the new digital information and communication technologies | more on the origins

An international group of senior scientists who share the aims and scopes of the journal is forming the list of Consulting editors

The Executive editor together with the Assistants to the editor support the coodrinating editor and the editors in keeping the journal's readiness
