This journal is a pluralist peer reviewed international journal which does not obey any particular ideological, theoretical or methodological approach in dealing with humanistic, artistic, scientific and technological issues related to map history and cartographic heritage in the large

Principal aim of the journal is:

To couple issues on history of cartography and maps with a variety of possibilities offered by the new digital information and communication technologies
To bring together in harmonic convergence historians of cartography and maps, cartography scholars and experts in new digital cartographic technologies
to create a common space of research targeting at the broadening of cartographic and map history access and expertise

The creation of this journal is a result of discussions, at the invitation of Evangelos Livieratos, of the four Founding editors who have worked together in several occasions during the last years trying to couple issues on history of cartography and maps with a variety of possibilities offered by the new digital information and communication technologies | more on the origins

The founding editors hold the copyright of the journal

An international group of senior scientists who share the aims and scopes of the journal is forming the list of Consulting editors

The Executive editor together with the Assistants to the editor support the coodrinating editor and the editors in keeping the journal's readiness
